“Launch of Dr. Nahata Memorial National Awards from Nagpur”

The All India Eye Bank Association’s National Conference was held in Nagpur with great enthusiasm and grandeur. On this occasion, the Dr. M. C. Nahata Memorial Netra Puraskar was formally inaugurated, giving new direction and inspiration to the eye donation movement across the country.
 
The event witnessed the presence of eminent eye bank representatives, doctors, social workers, and activists from different parts of India. The atmosphere of the conference was filled with service, collaboration, and commitment.
 
During the conference, Hyderabad’s Ramayamma International Eye Bank (L V Prasad Eye Institute) and Bengaluru’s Lions International Eye Bank (B W Lions Super Specialty Eye Hospital) were jointly conferred the “Dr. Nahata Excellence Award.” Both institutions have achieved remarkable milestones in the field of eye donation and corneal transplantation, and their services were recognized at the national level.
 
The highlight of the program was the Dr. M. C. Nahata Memorial Oration Lecture, which deeply moved and inspired the audience. This lecture presented eye donation not just as a medical service, but as a social movement. In this context, the Dr. Nahata Memorial Oration Award was conferred upon Major General Dr. J. K. S. Parihar, New Delhi (President – All India Eye Bank Association). In his lecture, Dr. Parihar emphasized that eye donation is not merely a medical act, but the highest form of service to humanity.
 
The event also marked the formation of the Association’s new executive body under the leadership of Dr. Sujata Das. The new team collectively pledged to spread awareness about eye donation to every level of society and to work unitedly so that the visually impaired in the country may receive the gift of sight.

“Dr. Nahata Excellence Award Presented to Shri Ashok Temle”

At the State Conference organized by the National Eye Safety Organization, Madhya Pradesh, Shri Ashok Temle, Secretary of the National Eye Safety Organization, Indore, was honored with the Dr. Nahata Excellence Award for his outstanding contribution in the fields of eye safety and eye donation.

The award ceremony was graced by eminent personalities including senior ophthalmologist Dr. O. P. Billore, former Directors of Health Services Dr. Ulka Srivastava and Dr. Ashok Sharma, renowned ophthalmologist Dr. P. K. Bajaj, Organization President Dr. Sharad Pandit, along with Dr. Subhash Pandit, Dr. Mukta Jain, Shri Atul Nahata, and Shri Nagesh Vyas, who collectively presented the Dr. Nahata Excellence Award Trophy to Shri Ashok Temle.

On this occasion, Dr. Mukta Jain recalled the pioneering work of Dr. M. C. Nahata in the fields of ophthalmology, eye safety, and eye donation. She emphasized that Dr. Nahata’s vision and lifelong commitment made him the torchbearer and godfather of eye care and prevention in India. She further noted that such awards not only honor dedicated individuals but also inspire society to carry forward the mission of eye donation and sight restoration.
Through this recognition, the legacy of Dr. M. C. Nahata continues to inspire a new generation of eye care professionals and social activists dedicated to the cause of vision, prevention, and humanity
